The B-Wave is the first motorcraft project developed by a very well known Italian design office. The concept behind the development of this boat has been to bring the technological characteristics and design techniques from sail-powered, racing vessels to the world of motor-driven craft. This includes the construction of the hull, the bulkheads and the structural systems, using GRP composites with carbon reinforcements, vacuum lamination by using epoxy resins. By the use of these materials and this construction system the: “B-Wave” is a an extremely lightweight craft, which can reach speeds of up to 35 knots, even when using engines that are not excessively powerful; as a result the fuel consumption and noise level are reduced while maintaining high speeds and manoeuvrability. The craft is fitted with modern Volvo IPS engines allowing better efficiency and with addition of the bow and stern thrusters it allows optimum manoeuvrability even in small ports. The interior layout is very innovative, the dinette has been removed to acive a more specious and informal arrangement. The arrangement is something in between a cruiser and a hard-top allowing spacious areas with great view thanks to its full-glass cabin with the addition of an opening roof and side windows. The service areas are below deck, and are the result of a top-level design project that has aimed to enhance comfort and practical use, all combined to reveal an elegant but sporting style. Two large double cabins, a large well-equipped galley, two bathrooms with separate showers and big stern garage make of this vessel a high quality sports yacht.
GYD has been involved in the B-Wave project right from the start; our task was to create the basic outline to meet the client’s needs by producing preliminary designs and 3d models. This work has been then refined according to the clients specifications to finally achieve this modern innovative luxury yacht.
