Tools
In GYD we use the latest design and engineering tools to create our designs.
- 3D MODELS are an essential tool for modern yacht design. These tools are a key factor for accurate results when creating structural models (FEA) and performance analysis (CFD/VPP).
- FEA Finite element analysis is used to optimize structures achieving a perfect balance between the required performance and weight. The analysis is carried according to the project needs and specific requirements; from a keel structure analysis to a full yacht structure.
- CFD Computer fluid dynamic software is used to access the performance characteristics of yachts allowing comparison between different proposals without the need of spending hours in towing tanks or wind tunnels.
- VPP velocity prediction programs are the best tool to evaluate the yacht performance; by balancing hydrodynamic and aerodynamic forces we are able to predict the performance of the proposed yacht through a broad range of wind ranges and angles. The result then can be used to analyze the yachts performance in a given route or the desired sailing region.
